High-Performance WordPress Hosting: Swift, Pricey, with Some Limitations

  • Expensive and lacks strong performance.
  • The user interface is considered terrible by many users.

• Flywheel:

  • Promises to outperform WP Engine, but user reviews are mixed.
  • Features a nice UI but doesn’t allow different PHP settings per site.
  • Recommended for hosting only one tiny site.

• Kinsta:

  • Highly regarded for branding and superior speed compared to WP Engine and Flywheel.
  • Some users have reported issues with downtime, which might be a concern.
  • As of August 2019, they have experienced a decline in performance, but they still surpass WP Engine.

• Pantheon:

  • Known for impressive speeds and excellent service.
  • One drawback is that servers switch to inactive mode when sites have no visitors, leading to slower first-time visits as the server “wakes” up.

  • Not the fastest, and some users have experienced plugin limitations and complaints.

• A2 (VPS): Weak and expensive compared to other providers. Their 8 “vCPU” is weaker than typical VPS hardware providers like DO, Linode, etc.
• BellHosting: Known for providing a horrible hosting experience.

Avoid the following hosting providers as well:

• BeyondHosting
• BigScoots
• BlueHost

These companies have terrible hardware, slow servers, frequent downtime, and overly high prices.

• Be cautious with canspace.ca, as their servers are slow even with low traffic and they have intermittent downtimes.
• DreamHost might offer great customer service, but their hosting speeds are mediocre, and their control panel is awful, leading to downtimes.
• DigitalPacific (AUS) is another provider to avoid due to weak and low-grade hosting with high prices.
• Avoid all EIG-owned hosting companies, as they are known for providing terrible service.
• FastComet has received complaints about being slow and experiencing random downtimes.
• GoDaddy, despite improvements, still has poor speeds, an unfavorable UI, and overall service, even with their managed hosting.
• GreenGeeks has a commendable mission of being ECO-friendly and using clean energy. While there have been mixed reviews about their hosting, most feedback has been positive, with people praising their helpfulness, speed, and excellent service.
